That explains some of the odd thicknesses in some parts of the constellation symbols. It seems like some further refinements could make U and J shapes, for example, work more traditionally.

I think the "traditional" calligraphy stroke isn't much like these lines - it's just a stroke that's different thicknesses in different directions (which you can do in ps as something like "gsave 30 rotate 1 0.5 scale stroke grestore newpath").

This does give some strange thicknesses though. What do you think U and J shapes should look like?
